Beef Steak with Mashed Potatoes
Ingredients:
- For the Steak:
- 2 beef steaks (sirloin, ribeye, or tenderloin)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp butter
- Fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)
- For the Mashed Potatoes:
- 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/4 cup milk or cream
- 2 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese or 1 tbsp sour cream for extra creaminess
Instructions:
- Prepare the Potatoes:
- Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender (about 15-20 minutes).
- Drain, mash, and mix with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth. Add optional ingredients if desired.
- Prepare the Steaks:
- Pat the steaks dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add steaks and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare (adjust time for desired doneness).
- Add butter, garlic, and herbs to the pan. Spoon the melted butter over the steaks for added flavor.
- Remove steaks from heat and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
