Ingredients
For the Stir-Fry:
- 500g beef strips (sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced)
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Rice:
- 2 cups jasmine rice
- 4 cups water
Instructions
1. Prepare the Rice:
- Rinse jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a medium pot, combine the rice and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 12–15 minutes until the rice is tender.
- Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
2. Cook the Beef Stir-Fry:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
- Add the beef strips and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Sauté the onions and garlic for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the bell peppers and stir-fry for another 2–3 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.
- Return the beef to the skillet. Stir in soy sauce, sesame oil, and oyster sauce (if using). For a thicker sauce, mix cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of water and add it to the pan.
- Cook for 2 minutes, ensuring everything is well-coated and heated through. Adjust seasoning if needed.
3. Serve:
Spoon the beef stir-fry over the jasmine rice. Garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired.
